First Aid Beauty – Ultra Repair Liquid Recovery

image

I bought this product when i was looking for products that can help relieve dry patches.

About the Product
First Aid Beauty aims to create luxurious yet highly effective product for those with problem skin. I bought the product because the ingredients did not contain anything that I know I will be sensitive to or will lead to outbreak on my face. In my recent trip to Bali, i brought this little bottle along to test the effectiveness of the product. Before I go on, here is the ingredient list:

INGREDIENTS
-Avena Sativa Oat Kernel Extract: Relieves itching and soothes dehydrated skin.
-Sodium Hyaluronate: Draws moisture into the skin, plumping the skin and supporting natural collagen levels.
-Ahnfeltia Concinna Extract: Relieves redness and aids in skin recovery.
-Propolis Extract: Repairs UV and other environmental damage, enhancing the skin’s own natural collagen production.

Water, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Ahnfeltia Concinna Extract, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Propolis Extract, Chrysanthemum Parthenium (Feverfew) Extract, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis (Licorice) Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Citrate, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Bisulfite.

Using the Product
I will wash my face and apply a teaspoon of this product on my face before applying anything else. I had used this together with my Albion Herbal Oil Gold and Albion Skin Conditioner. When the watery liquid is dispensed, i will distribute it on both my palms and spread it quickly all over my face. My skin did feel plumped up and somewhat hydrated forbthat few minutes. The redness on my face did seem to calm down slightly but I maintain that SKII Facial Treatment Essence (which I had used for about 2 to 3 years before switching to cheaper pharmacy brands) is much more effective in that department.

I observed that the hydration did not last very long and after using it for a week, I didn’t think it is worth the price. The watery texture does tend to make me feel that I may be wasting the product especially when it drips down my hand.

My verdict? Unlikely to repurchase coz its pricy and did not seem to be as effective as I hope it would be in truly improving the moisture level in my skin.

Where to Buy the Product
Well, I bought it at Sephora in Singapore. Due to my disappointment I didn’t bother to check if its sold online – i believe it would be elsewhere or on its official website.

Have you used any FAB products and worked?

bareMinerals – Pure Transformation Night Treatment (Clear)

image

I am a fan of bareminerals foundation for a number of years and I have never looked back. Its powder foundation does not break me out and improves my skin texture.

About two years ago, my sister had a friend who was travelling to USA. So I got her friend to help me grab a few pots of the bareMinerals foundation and products. One of the purchases is this Pure Transformation Night Treatment.

About the Product

From the bareMinerals website, “This groundbreaking nighttime mineral treatment is powered by our proprietary 100% pure ActiveSoil Complex. Clinically proven to dramatically reduce the appearance of pores, increase luminosity and deliver faster cell turnover-resulting in miraculous skin-renewing benefits. Experience younger-looking, radiant, even skin tone with improved texture. This concentrated powder formula replenishes skin while you sleep so you’ll wake up to the famous bareMinerals naturally luminous glow. Available in four tones to instantly diffuse imperfections.”

Using the Product

I followed the instructions and dust on this product after my 3 step skincare. I had chosen the shade Clear because I don’t want to risk rubbing the product on to the pillow. I slept with this product overnight and noticed that my T-zone does seem to product less oil in the morning, and I seem to have this dewy and ethereal glow on my face after 1 night of use. The small pimples that was there the day before also seem to dry up a little (its like i had foundation overnight). My skin does not feel dry in the morning either.

Where to Buy this Product
I can’t find this in Singapore even today. Its not available in Sephora either. There was once where I thought I saw a few bottles of the product at Sephora but it quickly disappeared and I do not get to see it again. So the only way is to purchase through friends who are travelling to USA or UK (as far as I know) or to purchase through 3rd party sites such as Strawberry Net, Taobao, Beautybay.com and Feelunique.com or Lookfantastic.com.

L’Occitane – Amande Huile Souplesse (aka Almond Supple Skin Oil)

wpid-collage_20150320212827846_20150320212934388.jpgWe all have our dry skin days (for those of us with normal skin). This is especially so when we are working in extremely drying air-conditioning environment that makes our hands and legs feel so dry and itchy.  I have a bottle of Nuxe Huile de Prodigieuse in my office, all ready to be slathered on my skin whenever I feel dry.  A proponent of using oils for my skin, I read about this L’Occitane product online and decided to buy it when I was passing through the shop two weekends ago.

About the Product

The Amande Huile Souplesse is made of the following key ingredients: Huile d’amande, Huile de caméline, Huile de Rosier Muscat (ie Almond Oil, Camelina Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil). From the L’Occitane website in Singapore, it said that “Formulated with more than 50% almond oil, this light, fine body oil effectively helps skin feel firmer and smoother. Skin feels nourished and more supple thanks to the ideal combination of almond oil and camelina oil, rich in omegas 3 and 6. This balance provides suppleness and comfort to the skin. A silicium derivative leaves skin looking firmer and tighter. Applied with a spray, this oil melts into the skin, enveloping it with a subtle and mouthwatering scent of fresh almonds while leaving a delicious satiny-smooth finish.

After one month of use, skin feels more comfortable, supple, and firmer.

The almond nut, which grows protected in a beautifully soft and green velvet shell, is renowned for its ability to soften and smooth the skin. L’OCCITANE is committed to purchasing almonds from producers in the South of France so that the almond tree, which had long been forgotten in the region, once again becomes a familiar element in the Provençal landscape.”  There are also tips on how to use the oil. The consumer test results on 31 women are: Immediately>

• Skin looks more beautiful (87%)

• Skin feels more supple (84%)

After 28 days:

• Skin seems smoother (87%)

• Skin looks firmer (65%)

Effectiveness test(s)

48 hours hydration demonstrated (Measurement of hydration rate on 31 women with corneometer)

I did find the product very nourishing. The scent is warm and welcoming (I just want to sleep in it!). The scent does not last super long – I guess thats how it is when the oil is natural; but the oil leaves a layer of “film” on your skin – which I thought it was still there after 1 round of shower in the following 24hours. I have only used it once (hubby finds the scent from initial application too strong) and will continue to use it coz I like the moisturizing effects. Will need to use it for 1 full month (sorry hubby!) before I can tell if it really delivers the effects described above.

Using the ProductAlmond Supple Skin Oil.jpg

This comes with a spray nozzle so its easy to dispense. Squirt some and apply on your arms, legs and body for hydration / moisturizing. Apply in circular motion (I like to also put pressure on my acupuncture points on my legs for improved circulation). However, I was told not to apply on the face as it will be too rich. Rub gently till the oil is fully absorbed.

Where to Buy the Product

I bought it from L’Occitane boutique in Singapore. It has other Almond based products but I thought I should just stick with this first. Its a little pricy (about S$75 a 100ml bottle) but you will soon realise that a bottle like this last a long time. Once open, the bottle must be used up in 12 months from date of opening.

Have you tried any other almond oils yet? Tell me all! 🙂
