VDL – GuyLian Expert Colour Lip Cube SPF10

wpid-collage_20150706115428296_20150706115741667.jpgAnother VDL purchase from Koreadepart! Okay, I’m crazy about lipsticks. Especially if they deliver high pigmentation. This lipstick is a must buy because its a developed by VDL in collaboration with GuyLian, the famous chocolate house. I’m talking about the Expert Colour Lip Cube by VDL on the left. You will see the signature Lip Cube in such beautify pink shade that just makes your heart melt. Fair skinned girls out there, you gotta grab this if you still can!

About the Product and Using the Product

A little bit about Lip Cube – its different from conventional lipsticks because its in a cube shaped. Like a long cube or coloured chalk (those of you who like to paint using chalk will know). The sharp corners (as show inset) makes applying lipstick on the lips a breeze and enables more precised application. Expert Colour Lip Cubes come in many colours, but the collaboration with GuyLian gave birth to 3 shades (GuyLian, Seashell & Seahorse) – and the one I’ve got is Seahorse. Beautiful pink shade, isn’t it? They are made to last and by wearing it a couple of hours, I can attest that the texture is more lasting than other lipsticks in VDL range. However, I have yet to test it for longer hours that requires me to eat and drink. I didn’t, however, think that this product is highly hydrating (maybe thats why it lasts longer) but the shade is one to reckon with. It still glides on well but its definitely easier to apply than Illamasqua matt lipstick (tho I do love Illamasqua lipstick!)

Where to Buy the Product

I just checked Koreadepart website again, and they still carry this product. Else grab them from VDL outlets in Singapore or in Korea!

Have you tried any VDL Cosmetics products yet?

Laneige – Moisture Lip Balm

Laneige Moisture Lip Balm.jpgI bought the Laneige Moisture Lip Balm when I was in Seoul last year. This was part of my Myeong Dong haul in June 2014. It was not a planned purchase. Rather, it was because I was experiencing dry and chappy lips, and I bought it out of desperation to heal my lips.

About the Product

This product, as you can see from the image on the left, dispense out of a tube. Its a small tube no longer than a 15cm short ruler. It is very portable and I carry this around me every day in my makeup purse. The product is an opaque gel like texture that is easy to apply. From the Laneige website, it said that this is a “Lip Balm with triple effects: hydrating + healing chapped/dry lips + preventing the signs of aging lips”. It also went on to elaborate that for:

1) Hydrating effect

Water Friendly Polyols Technology gives deep hydration. Also its Lip Care Complex provides an Immediate hydrating effect and long-term moisturizing. (Oil complex prescription with peach stone, apricot stone & plum stone)

2) Healing chapped/dry lips

Water Friendly Polyols Technology & Lip Care Complex prevent dryness and heals chapped lips.

3) Preventing the signs of aging lips

The ingredient, Adenosine, has an anti-wrinkle effect and stimulates cell function. Also Texture Enhancing Technology makes lip texture soft and immediately adds energy to dry and inelastic lip.

Using the Product

I like the texture of the gel, and how easy it is to apply on my lips. Usually, with a cleaned finger, I will dap a 2mm drop and smooth it onto my lips. It helps with moderately dry lips (ie mild peeling cases) but I didn’t find that it works as quickly or effectively for severely chapped lips. I would usually apply this before I use my favourite VDL Triple Lip Tint just to boost the moisture level. Typically, after using this item, I will find the dry skin falling off to reveal smooth and hydrated lips. This tube of 15ml can last quite a while if you are only applying the product on need basis. It is non oily and can work as a subtle gloss if you do not like your gloss to deliver high shine.

Buying the Product

This product is available in most Laneige counters. If you are in Myeong Dong, you may be able to find this product in places such as Watsons. Else the Laneige or Aritaum boutique shops are your best bets. At my favourite online shop, Koreadepart, this product retails for USD12.20 currently.

Was there a lip balm that you like a lot? I chanced upon this, and I am loving it! What about you? 🙂

Sephora – Ultimate Oil-in-Gel Lipstick Remover

image

The Sephora Ultimate Oil-in-Gel Lipstick Remover was an unplanned purchase. I thought I should review it after use, especially of anyone of you share similar woes with removing lipstick.

About the Product
This Sephora Ultimate Oil-in-Gel Lipstick Remover claims to be super efficient in removing all kinds of lipstick, even the most long lasting one.  The texture of the product is gel like (as you can see in the picture) and is easy to use. Can hardly tell whether there is oil in the product by touching with your finger tips.

The ingredients of the product are listed in the picture embedded in this post. From Sephora website, this product is without Parabens (Yay!)

Using the Product
The instruction on the box said to apply the product on the lips and leave it for 30 seconds before removing it with the lipstick. I had tested this product with my Karen Murrell Sandstorm lipstick and it seems to be able to remove the lipstick efficiently without traces. The lips felt smooth and somewhat hydrated after wiping off the product and the lipstick, although I would have preferred if its even more hydrating. 🙂

As I do not own a long wearing lipstick, I will leave it to you, my readers, to try this product out and share your views with me. 🙂

Where to Buy the Product
I purchased this at the Sephora located at Tampines One, Singapore.

VDL – Triple Shot Tint Bar

image

VDL stands for “Violet-Dream-Luminous”.  It is an international cosmetic brand that was founded in 2012 by The Color Lab of LG Household & Health Care.

I have been using VDL Triple Shot Tint Bar for a while and I am most impressed with the colour when I wear it on my lips. I have in the picture the orange shade. Initially I thought it will look too bright on my lips but it turns out to be a subtle shade of rose pink. The tint lasts – yes it does and does not come off as much as easily when i drink – well its a tint right? I have read some earlier reviews that people find this not hydrating enough and my own experience is similar. So I usually will wear a moisture balm before putting this on esp on days I don’t drink a lot of water.  You can wear this tint to create the bitten look or just glide over the lip like a normal lipstick. I love this tint but do remember to clean it off using an eye and lip remover just so that there are no left behinds.

How to create the ‘Bitten’ or the ‘half-eaten lipstick’ look?

Simple. Hold the lipstick with the red hue below and the pale skin colour on the top (you should see 3 horizontal layers of your lipstick). Run it over your lips holding your lipstick in this manner for the upper lip. Then rotate the colours with the red hue on top and the pale skin colour below. Run this combination over your lips in this  manner. You should see the red hue nearer to the centre of your mouth, and the pale skin colour outside your mouth. This is what we call a ‘bitten’ look. Quite popular with korean stars!

Where to get this?
In Singapore, there are 4 VDL Stores – located at Suntec City, Jurong Point, Bugis Junction and Bedok.  The VDL outlet in Suntec City (where I’ve checked out) is located on level 2 of Tower 5. The shop carries other VDL products as well.

Of course, the best is to purchase VDL products from the VDL stores which are peppered all over MyeongDong!

Online, you can visit http://www.vdlcosmetics.com/ for more information. Otherwise, you can visit the following websites to purchase VDL products:

1) Qoo10 – search for VDL  and you should be able to find vendors carrying VDL products.

2) Taobao – there are always sellers importing VDL lipstick from Korea here. The pricing may not be as competitive as those on Qoo10 but is a good choice if its nearer to where you live. Those living in Singapore wanting to purchase from Taobao, I’ll recommend you use 65daigou to bring in the products.   I have used this service several times and the purchasing team has been very reliable and efficient.  I’ll blog more next time.

Other notes:

VDL carries skin care products on top of make up palettes, foundations, lipsticks and primers. Do ask the sales staff for their star product if you are a junkie like me!
