Neal’s Yard Remedies – Rehydrating Rose Facial Oil

image

I have been using NYR’s Rehydrating Rose for a few weeks now and I am very please with the product.

About the Product
Neal’s Yard Remedies or NYR was first set up in UK as Neal’s Yard Apothecary in 1981 by Romy Fraser. They launched their classic product, Frankincense & Myrrh Skin Cream (later Frankincense Nourishing Cream), which is still a favourite product today. From its website, NYR make their products with “the maximum organic, natural and wild ingredients, and carefully select other functional ingredients (detergents, emulsifiers, surfactants etc) with a view to safety, efficacy and biodegradability.” Their “entire range makes use of high quality organic plant-based ingredients, and we fully disclose our ingredient information with [their] customers, both online and, where space allows, on [their] packaging.” NYR products do not contain the following:

  • No silicones – they coat skin, and impede its natural function
  • No mineral oils – derived from petroleum, and have a tendency to block the skin
  • No parabens – these are linked to hormonal imbalances
  • No GM ingredients – not enough is known about possible long-term implications
  • No phthalates – it’s reported they have toxic impact on humans and animal life
  • No propylene glycol – derived from petroleum
  • No animal testing – unnecessary and cruel
  • No DEA – associated with known carcinogens
  • No EDTA – (powerful metal chelator), and doesn’t biodegrade readily
  • No acrylates – derived from petroleum
  • No nano – not enough is known about its long term implications
  • No BHT – linked to breathing and lung impairment

On the ingredients in Rehydrating Rose Facial Oil (marked as vegan product):

Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil*, Corylus Avellana (Hazelnut) Seed Oil*+, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil*, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Rosa Damascena Flower Wax, Pogostemon Cablin Leaf Oil*, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil*, Citral, Citronellol, Eugenol, Farnesol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool.

Using the Product

After toning your face, place 2 to 3 drops in the palms of your hands to spread before applying on your face. This helps to warm the oil to increase absorption by your skin. Spread the warmed oil on your face, always starting from the center and gently spread outwards. I usually will start from the tip of the nose and then the cheeks towards the ears. For the forehead and chin, i will place one of my warm hands with oil on either sides and apply the product before massaging in: horizontally left and right for forehead, upward motion to either side of the cheeks from the chin. As i work in air conditioned room everyday, i may take one more drop than my usual dose so that I can use the product like a mask to hydrate my skin further. If you do just like me, remember to use a tissue to dab off the excess oil on your skin before applying a light moisturizer over your face to seal in the moisture.

If you use the oil at night like me, you should find that your face brighter and more dewy in the morning. I just love this product!

Where to Buy the Product
All NYR outlets! There is only one NYR outlet in Singapore at Millenia Walk Level 1. Its a small outlet with limited products compared to the outlets in UK. Alternatively if you are into online shopping or daigou you can check out Taobao, Amazon or Qoo10 to see if anyone carries the product into your country.

Please let me know if you are currently using any of the NYR products and what you think of it! 🙂

Dr. Wu – Intensive Acnecur Spot Treatment with BHA

Dr Wu Intesive Acnecur Spot Treatment with BHA.jpgFirst let me apologise for the blur image of the product on the left. 🙂 As you can see I’m clearly not that good in the photography department (HAHAHA!!) Anyway, here’s my other Dr. Wu product that I absolutely love – for my acne of course. I had previously blogged about the Dr. Wu Mandelic Acid product that helps to remove dead skin cells without causing irritation to my sensitive skin. this is yet another product that I would recommend to those who want to treat their pimples and pus-oozing acnes (okay I’m being too graphic).

About the Product

From the Dr Wu website in Singapore, it states that this is an award winning product. It goes on to say that “DR.WU’s unique ACNECUR formula is clinically proven to clear up blemishes and also visibly reduce blemish marks. This revolutionary blemish treatment contains a blemish-fighting complex, Bio-Sulfur and Salicylic Acid, to reduce and prevent acne problems in all stages and also helps existing pimples and acne disappear quickly. It also contains high potency Niacinamide (B3) and Tranexamic Acid to even out skin tone and visibly reduce marks left behind by blemishes.”  The benefits of the main ingredients are as follows:

Niacinamide (B3): Its anti-inflammatory properties help to soothe the skin and promote skin rejuvenation.

Sulphur: A vital mineral that is a natural antiseptic with healing and anti-inflammatory properties.

Tranexamic Acid: A whitening ingredient known to prevent spots and blemishes.

Salicylic Acid: An effective acne treatment ingredient that helps to clear and prevent pimples.

The key ingredients in the product are: Niacinamide, Sulfur, Tranexamic Acid, Salicylic Acid,
Target: Oily and Acne Prone Skin

Using The Product

I usually will apply this product in small quantities on the inflammed pimple or pus-filled acne. This product will not work well with acne that is just severely inflammed and has no sign of pus coming out. The product will dry out the pus and it will come off by itself when you wash your face etc. There is no need to use our itchy fingers to peel it off. Remember, peeling it off means scars!! This product is safe if you apply 1-3 times a day (ie morning, noon and night) but so far, I’ve only applied it at night coz I do not want to dry out my acne too much. It contains BHA so please wear sunscreen if you are applying this in the day time.

Where to Buy the Product

In Singapore, you can by this product from Watsons. Or buy them when you’re in Taiwan!

Have you tried any of Dr. Wu’s product? Drop me a comment if you have and let me know how it has worked for you! 🙂

Tarte – Amazonian Clay 12-hr Blush

Tarte Blusher.jpgI have this Tarte Blusher for some time and this I must say it is a prized purchase because the colour lasts for at least 6 hours when I am indoors in sunny and humid Singapore.

About the Product

Those of you who are frequents to Sephora would know about Tarte Cosmetics. From the website, it says that “This 12-hour blush universally benefits all skin types for a fade-free, flawless finish in shades ranging from soft to vivid and matte to shimmer to suit a wide variety of skin tones.  Amazonian clay minimizes oil in and around pores to balance skin and keep product in place while also hydrating the skin naturally to restore moisture, reducing the appearance of dry, flaky skin.” It also claims to:

“ALWAYS FORMULATED WITHOUT: parabens • mineral oil • phthalates • triclosan • sodium lauryl sulfate • gluten”

Using the Product

I am using Dollface and this is definitely my favourite blusher for now! Not only does it last for hours without fading (well unless you rub your cheeks from time to time and that will certainly rub off the colour). I have used bare minerals blusher but the staying power is not as long. I work on average 9 to 12 hours a day and I have normal to oily combination skin. Its just amazing to still be able to see the blusher on my cheeks after such long working hours. What’s more, I am able to gradually layer on the blusher for darker shades – unlike some other blushers that I’ve used where it can look too dark when I dust on another round of blusher. Its great for creating naturally pink cheeks! *love it love it!!* Oil control wise, I am not sure coz my face can get really oily – and I attribute it to dry airconditioning and not drinking sufficient fluids in office. But overall I still think this is THE BEST mineral blusher – ever!

Where to Buy the Product

bareMinerals READY SPF 20 Mineral Foundation

Bareminerals Ready FoundationI have been using bareMinerals READY SPF 20 Mineral Foundation for a while now, and I thought its time I do a review on this amazing foundation. Why did I say its amazing? Its true it is mineral and many other foundations which are mineral based – but fact is, this is the only powder foundation that I’ve used so far that doesn’t give me outbreaks!

About the Product

Those of you out there who are cult followers of the bareMinerals product ranges will know that the popularity for this product spread like wild fire when its founder, Leslie, started selling its loose powder foundation on QVC in USA. The swirl-tap-buff sure got many ladies onboard and its now one of the go-to foundations for those who have problem skin. From the bareMinerals website, the active ingredients in this foundation are: Titanium Dioxide 11%, Zinc Oxide 18%. Inactive Ingredients: Boron Nitride, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Magnesium Silicate, Silica, Nylon-12, Humic Acids, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Jojoba Esters, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Lecithin, Betaine, Algae Extract. May Contain: Mica, Bismuth Oxychloride, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides. This foundation also claims to increase hydration by 108% with decent coverage (important point to note for those of you who have reddish patches on your skin like me!)

Using the Product

I have used this product with the bareMinerals brush as well as other flatheaded brushes. The coverage is good if you have some reddish patches or light freckles on your skin. For those with large acne, you can still use this product, but the bumps may be amplified to show the unevenness of the skin. Moles or dark patches that show up prominently on your skin may not be covered that well so you can say that light flaws can be covered, but if you have visible flaws such as large open pores, suggest to use a primer and concealer before using this foundation. This foundation can be layered on (do use flat headed brushes, or if you are a Sigma brush fan, use a 3DHD Precision brush would do the job just fine to create a nice professional finish). I wore this foundation in the humid Singapore weather and it lasted me almost 6 to 8 hours (note: not perspiring okie). My skin did not feel as drying after removing the foundation too. I guess I can attest to the 108% more hydration. Also, I noticed that when I have small pimples, using this foundation actually help to dry them up! (Gosh!). I am not sure if its gotta do with the ingredients in this foundation but hey, it doesn’t clog and helps with drying up small pimples – thumbs up!

Where to Buy this Product

I like to stock this up when I am overseas or when I have friends travelling to USA (its a lot cheaper there). In Singapore, you can purchase it from Sephora and its always good to stock up when its your birthday month (those of you with Sephora’s white card or black card) so that you get some discounts. Otherwise, there are plenty of online shops that ships for free worldwide so do google on!

Are you using this product too? Do share with me your experience!

Label Young – Sonyu Oil (Multi Skincare Cream and Oil)

image

I finally opened up one of the items that I’ve purchased in my last Koreadepart haul! This time, its the Sonyu Oil by handmader which I have been itching to try because its OIL! If you recall, I love to use oil, and have been a proponent for oil on oily skin. This time round, I am on the road again to try out his cream-oil, that remains to be a rave on social media.

About the Product

The Sonyu Oil is a cream & oil product, intended to deliver non-lasting, long lasting moisture to dry skin. It is light and has a light pink shade (see inset). There is a second version that was released (and yes I bought that one too!) but this was the first of the series to be released.  The key ingredients of this oil are honey extract, propolis, aloe vera leaf, shea butter, pomegranate oil, argan oil and jaguen oil. The product does not contain parabens, ethanol, artificial colors, mineral oil, benzophenone, steroids, phenoxyethanol, triclosan, paraffins, imidazolidinyl urea, triethanolamine, petrolatum, formaldehyde, methylchloroisothiazol inone, sulfate, chloride nesin page, talc, BHA, isopropyl alcohol.

Using the Product

The recommendation is to shake the content 3-5 times lightly until the white hydration cream mix with the red face oil to form pink cream-oil. Normal skin users are recommend to apply this product as last step of skin care.  Those with dry skin are recommended to apply on skin after the wash and tone, but for oily and combination skin, it is recommended to apply this product directly on the face without toning or serums.  Users can also mix a small pea size of this product to bb creams or foundations to create glowing make up.  I have combination skin, but I feel that my skin absorbs the product better when I prep my washed face with a mist of Albion Skin Conditioner before I apply this product. To apply, I will take out a 20c coin size onto my palms. then I will spread and warm the product in my hands before I apply it onto the face. The hydration is more effective than the Shocking Pore series and I do not experience outbreaks. I also do not feel tightness when I am working in an air-conditioned room. This is not a good primer for skin with larger pores so I recommend primer to be use before makeup. My skin also do not feel as tight after washing at the end of the day.

Where to Buy the Product

The usual places of course! Koreadepart and Label Young official website.

Label Young – Shocking Cream Pore Ver. (aka Panku Cream)

image
Shocking Cream Pore Version

The Label Young Shocking Pore Cream is the other Label Young Pore series product that I have yet to review. This Shocking Pore Cream is to be used together with the Panku Skin and Lotion, which aims to tighten and hydrate the pores as well as deliver whitening and anti-aging effects.

About the Product
The Label Young Shocking Pore Cream reminds me of thick clear gel. The purpose of this cream was to tighten and even up the pores, as in the case of using a primer to “flatten” the gaps created by the open pores so that the skin looks smooth and glowing.  It also works well in hydrating the skin. Compared to the Shocking Skin and Lotion, the Shocking Pore Cream seems to do better at hydration, if I need to choose the most effective of the two.

From the Koreadepart website, the the Shocking Pore Cream’s main ingredients are Bentonite (containing more than 60 kinds of natural minerals, kaolin, ECOCERT organic ingredients, soybean fermentation extract. This product is also, from Koreadepart, recommended for those with big pores or pores with blackheads.  I didnt find significant changes to my pores but the hydration seems to be the more satisfying outcome.

Using the Product
It was recommended that one applies the Shocking Pore Cream right after the Panku Skin and Lotion, or to chill the gel in the fridge before applying on the face as a mask. I have been reminded about my pores clogging easily so did not try to use the Shocking Pore Cream as a mask (seals up the pores). However I did use it like a cream that enhance the hydration of the Panku Skin and Lotion. I only use a small pea size at a time and warm it in my hand before I spread it on my face.

After using the Label young Pore Series for almost a month, I like the Panku Skin and Lotion, but find that it is not moisturizing enough when I am in an airconditioned or low humidity environment. The Shocking Pore Cream helps to improve hydration by acting as an additional layer to seal in moisture. No outbreaks so far.

Where to Buy the Product
As with all the Label young Products, you can purchase the Shocking Pore Cream via:

1) Koreadepart
2) Qoo10
3) Label Young Official Website

Have you tried the Shocking Pore Series? Tell me about your experience! 🙂

Label Young – Shocking Oil

Label Young Shocking Oil
Oil that does not feel like oil

My Label Young Shocking Oil only has a third of the bottle left so I think I should provide my review on this product to those of you who are still thinking whether to grab this product or not.

About the Product
The uniqueness of the Label Young Shocking Oil is that this product does not feel like the oils you see in the market. Yup you heard me! It does not feel like oil but more like dense gel that becomes watery when it comes into contact with your hands. However, it delivers similar levels of moisture just as how other oils would. The product is light yellow clear liquid with tiny red, blue and yellow beads that breaks open to deliver vitamin A (moisture and nutrients), vitamin C (tighten pores and increase pore resilience) and vitamin E (keratin and ringworm CARE) respectively. Its always a surprise what colour beads are discharged from the bottle each time I pour out the contents from the bottle.

According to the product publicity, the product can be used to moisturize your hair ends, and to moisturize dry patches of skin on the body, and mixed with your bb creams to create a dewy effect.

Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, 1.2 Hexanediol, Sodium Hyaluronatte, Beta-glucan, Lemon Oil, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Argan Oil, Avocado Oil, Magnolia Liliflora Bud Extract, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Lactose, Cellulose, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Jojobar Ester, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Carbomer, Spice, Disodium EDTA (source: Q-trading @ Qoo10)

Free from 20 Additives : Parabens, Ethanol, Benzophenone, Steroids, Artificial Colours, Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Sulphate, Acid Sikrik Saline, Triclosan, Benzyl Alcohol, DM Hydantoin, Methyl Isobutyl non Jolly Teeth, Mineral Oil, Quaternium-15, Phenyl Salicylate, Dia Jolie Attend Urea, Inorganic Sulfate, Chlorobutanol, Propionic Acid. (Source: Koreadepart)

How to Use the Product
I have combination skin that is oily inside but mildly dry on the surface. I have also mentioned in my earlier post that I am a proponent for use of facial oils.

With Label Young Shocking Oil, I usually pour a bean size (size of 10c coin, or abt 1cm in diameter), spread it between my palms to break the beads and to warm before I apply it directly on my skin with light massaging strokes. The skin does not feel sticky after application, and I also did not experience any outbreaks after a few days of use.  There will be days when I get a little lazy and decide to apply the oil directly on my face instead of applying it after toner. Both methods worked for me. On using the product with other toners, I have used Albion Skin Conditioner in place of Label Young Shocking Toner with no side effects or outbreaks. Overall, I continue to receive the hydration from this product for 3 to 4 hours in humid environment. However, if you are working in dry, low humidity or airconditioned environment, I would recommend to follow on with one of the Label Young Shocking Creams or a light hydrating moisturizer for added layer of hydration.

I have not tried this on my hair ends but I did try to use it to hydrate dry patches on my body. No irritations experience. I must say this is quite a good product if you need a quick surge of moisture, especially on days where you feel the skin is dry or flaky.

According to the sites selling this product, you can mix the Label Young Shocking Oil with your BB Creams to create a dewy effect.

Where to Buy the Product
In my earlier posts, I have recommended a few places where you can purchase this product – online. They are:

1) Koreadepart – this online shop carries multiple brands of korean skin care products. I have had a recent Label Young haul from here.

2) Qoo10 – Search for “label young” or “labelyoung” and you should find a few vendors carrying their product range. This is not a new product so it should not be difficult to find it on Qoo10.

3) Label Young Official Online Shop (Korean) – If you can understand Korean, this is the site for you regardless of where you are. They have the most up to date Label Young product ranges on this site.

Have you tried this product? If so, do share with me what you think of this oil! 🙂

Update: Label Young has recently released Shocking Oil ver 2. I would love to try and give my review after I have gone through my recent Label Young Haul from Koreadepart! 😉

Senka – Perfect Whip Foam

image

I have written about Senka Cleaning Oil the last round. Now I am going to share my experience on the use of Senka’s Perfect Whip Foam, which comes from the same Senka product family, under Shiseido.

The Product
Visually, this product is like any other facial foam. Comes in a light blue tube, the product dispensed is white and creamy. The uniqueness of this product is that once you rub the product with cold water, it will create lots of foam, which looks like a well beaten egg white. Take some practice actually. If you like to use warm water to wash your face, take note that the product may not fluff up as much. According to the product explanation, the foams created are finer and could clean the pores more thoroughly. It was also mentioned on the product that Amino Acid is one of the ingredients included. Those who have acne or problem skin will appreciate that Amino Acid cleansers are good for problem skin.

Using the Product

I use the Perfect Whip Foam twice a day, Day and Night. Personally, I find the Perfect Whip Foam not too drying (though I have found out from others who find it a bit drying after wash), and give a little bit of hydrating effect. At night, after removing my foundation or sunscreen with Sephora Triple Cleansing Water or Bioderma Sensibio, I will use the Perfect Whip Foam with my Clarisonic Aria on normal speed. This helps to cleanse my skin once and for all to prevent clogging. This method has worked well for me thus far.

How to use with Clarisonic

Squeeze your usual amount of foam cleanser (it should not be more than 2cm long product as it will be too much), and foam it up using cool or room temperature water. Once that is done, spread the foam on your face with light rubbing motion. Then give your Clarisonic a quick rinse, flick off the water and turn it on and place the brush starting from the center of your forehead and move in circular motion. The entire brushing time should only take a minute. Then rinse your face with warm water (esp if your face is very oily) followed by cool water. Some people will rinse with cold water to immediately close the pores. I don’t particularly find this making much of difference for me, but I usually would prefer to use warm water only.  You will find that your skin is smooth and clean.

Do remember to keep your Clarisonic brush head clean by detaching it from the handheld, and run it under warm water to remove suds, followed by flicking off remain water and leave it to dry.

Where to Buy

If you live in Singapore, you should be able to purchase Senka Perfect Whip Foam from Watsons, its retailing at around $12 per tube (I think). Frequent users can always purchase them when there is a sale at Watsons at a cheaper price. Like many skin care and food products, Senka is a Japanese product, but they do let regional partners help them manufacture the products using the same formula. So, not all Senka sold in the market are made in Japan.

1) From Qoo10, you will find many sellers carrying this product. I like to visit the vendor Kenko.com who claimed that they import directly from Japan. There are of course other sellers who could prove that their products have gone through checks by Health Sciences Authority of Singapore. These are reliable products too. Just take note of the expiry dates before you buy. You will notice that products imported from Taiwan comes with chinese labels at the top of the tube. Those from Japan or Korea comes with Japanese labels at the top of the tube.

2) From Rakuten, you can also find Kenko.com to make your purchase. But of course, from Rakuten Japan website, you can find the Japanese locals carrying the same products but it could be pricier to import from there.

3) If you are shopping from Japan and you are able to read Japanese, you can visit Kenko to place your online order too.

Hope the above information helps! Do let me know if you have any other experiences using this product, and where we can find Senka Perfect Whip in your country! 🙂

Dr. Wu Special Treatment – Intensive Skin Renewal Serum w/ Mandelic Acid

Mild mandelic acid for skin renewal
Mild mandelic acid for skin renewal

I have been using this product for a long time to help improve the renewal of my skin on days when it feels rough or when I feel that my skin is not able to absorb the skincare products well.

From my research on the internet, “Dr.WU is a line of highly effective skincare products developed with advanced patented technologies to target various problems in Asian skins. Based on 40 years of clinical experience and extensive skincare research, the founder Dr. Ying-Chin Wu has created the technologically advanced skincare line so that patients can enjoy the same medical treatments just like having a doctor at home.”

Product description on Dr. Wu’s website states that the “Intensive Renewal Serum With Mandelic Acid 18% is a revolutionary home spa facial treatment using several patented technologies and ingredients to refine skin texture, diminish fine lines and improves skin elasticity and firmness. It contains Mandelic Acid 18%, which is used in Chemical Peeling procedures, to effectively diminish the appearance of fine lines and stimulate the skin desquamation process to achieve a smoother and brighter skin, even improves skin tone by resurfacing epidermis and removing aged layers. Formula also contains Sodium Hyaluronate, Tinocare GL and Biophytex which can be easily absorbed by the skin to facilitate hydration, and reduce dark spots and freckles, therefore to make skin brighter and more clear.”

Although I have not seen visible improvements in the size of my pores, I did notice that my skin is a lot smoother, and occasionally I have white heads popping off my pores with just a light rub while washing my face. My pores also do not clog as much (this is what I noticed when I visit my beautician – she does not have to push out a lot of white or black heads).

How to Use The Product

A sales lady at Watsons had advised that I should use this serum twice a week to improve the texture of my skin. From my experience, the serum should be applied onto the skin using cotton swap due to its acidic nature, after washing and drying the face. Special care need to be paid to avoid the eye area and around the mouth. After applying the serum using the cotton swap, wait for a few seconds and apply your usual moisturizer to lock in the moisture while the serum works on renewing your skin through mild peels. One should also take note that the serum should be used at night before you sleep, and not in the day time. I have never used it in the day since the day I started using this product. The next morning, you will notice that your skin is smoother, but you do not see any bits of dead skin like what some of the BHA and AHAs peels do. Wash your face normally the next day and continue with your normal skin care routine.

Another point to note is NEVER use this serum when you have open wounds or are experiencing skin sensitivities such as allergies or redness. Consult your doctor if you are unsure if your health conditions permits you to use this product. Do not touch the serum with your bare hands either. Stick with cotton swaps.

Published product key ingredients: Mandelic Acid 18%, Tinocare GL, Sodium Hyaluronate, Biophytex.

Target: Rough and Sensitive Skin

Where to Buy the Product

1) If you are in Singapore, you can get it from Watsons outlets

2) If you are overseas, you can purchase it online via Dr Wu’s Official Website . This is a bilingual website so it should not be difficult to shop for those who can read english or mandarin.

Let me know your experience from using this product! 🙂

Iope – BB Air Cushion XP SPF50+/PA+++ with Refill

image
This changed my mind about BB creams

I can’t believe it myself but this little pot of BB Cushion changed my mind about using BB Cream for acne prone and clogging pores like mine.

This product is one of my steals from my shopping trip in MyeongDong, Seoul, South Korea – from one from one of Korea’s cosmetic conglomerate “Amore Pacific”. Amore Pacific has created many cosmetic lines under it, with Laneige, Innisfree, Etude House, etc being some of its more popular brands. IOPE (pronouced as “ah-ee-oh-pay”) belongs to the mid to high range brands, and is sold in Aritaum (Amore Pacific outlet that carries only selected Amore Pacific products which are around mid to high range) and Watsons in Korea.

It began with my colleagues asking me to help them purchase a few Korean skin care and cosmetics. This item was on the order list because it was part of product placement in the korean drama, You Who Came From The Stars (来自星星的你). The character, ChunSongYi had used this BB Air Cushion in one of the scenes. Since this drama was heavily followed by viewers, this item was selling like hotcakes in Korea – so much so the shops had to control the quantity each customer can purchase with a single credit card!

What is BB Air Cushion?
Unlike conventional packaging for BB and CC creams, BB Air Cushion means it comes in a thick compact that carries cartridges of product which are replaceable. Within each cartridge, you will find a sponge that will help to “soak” up the BB “lotions” (I think its more like BB lotions than creams coz they tend to be a lot less thick). Each compact or refill pack will come with a purpose-made puff that you should use to “pat” or “tap” onto the BB lotion soaked sponge so that you can pick up just enough BB lotion to apply by patting lightly on your face. As the BB lotion is thin, you may layer on the product if you need more coverage.  There are currently a lot of Korean Cosmetics companies who are selling BB Cushions, but I have read it somewhere, that Amore Pacific is the first company that developed BB Air Cushion and this was, accordingly, followed by other cosmetic manufacturers.

Review of Product
I did not experience any breakout since the day I started using this product. It last about 4 to 6 hours on my face if I do not spend 15 mins walking out of my office under the hot sun to grab my lunch. The layering is good and I think the sunscreen is a big plus if you live in hot and sunny places in asia. In terms of camouflaging pores, I think it has decent pore coverage (note: do not work for super large pores or scars, okie – only up to visible open pores)  after you have applied it for a while – it made my skin looked good (even when I had an awful night of poor sleep quality) and healthy. I usually apply without primers.

Points to Note
One has to take note that some cosmetic sales counters will advise that their product requires you to layer on loose powder after applying their BB cushion. However, with IOPE, the sales outlets told me that I do not need to apply loose powder at all. I have tried this product in Korea and before I return to humid Singapore. It does hold better in Korea but its durability seems to also work very well in Singapore – if you do not have to walk under the hot sun to grab your lunch in the afternoon.  What I like very much is that it has SPF50+/PA+++. I feel my skin turning fairer after using the BB Air Cushion XP for a month! 😀
Shade wise, one must realise that the shade for IOPE BB Air Cushion XP is not the same with other BB Air Cushion, even if the brands belong to the same Amore Pacific family. For example, N21 for Laneige BB Cushion suits me better than N21 for IOPE BB Air Cushion XP (whiter than Laneige). I had to use N23 for IOPE to get a more natural look on my face.

In a nutshell, either you test the shade at your nearby counters or purchase it cheap online or overseas to test before jumping in to stock up!

Where to Purchase IOPE BB Air Cushion XP
There aren’t that many IOPE counters in the world, aside from those in USA and in Korea. Amore Pacific did not have any counters in Singapore (Amore Pacific, please bring it to Singapore!) or Malaysia, so the only way is to buy online.  Couple of ways to purchase IOPE BB Air Cushion XP:
1) Qoo10 – search for “IOPE” should land you a list of vendors that carries the product. Some of them are having good discounts for the product (less than S$40 per box with a refill cartridge).
2) Google “koreandepart” – you might be able to find stocks from them
3) Ask a friend who is going to Seoul, MyeongDong to grab it for you at local rates. If he/she is able to obtain VAT refund, even better!

I hope the information is useful to you. Please share with me what you think of this product if you have tried it! 🙂
